Majjiga Pulusu (Curd Curry)


Okra / Snake gourd / Bottle gourd / Egg plant / chayote
Butter milk -------------2 cups
Channa dal --------------3 tsp
Coriander seeds ---------1 tsp
Cumin seeds -------------1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds -----------1/4 tsp
Tomato ------------------1
Green chilis ------------4
Ginger ------------------1 inch
Fresh coconut -----------3 tsp
Coriander leaves
Curry leaves

Seasoning items (urad dal, channa dal, cumin seeds and Hing)
Turmeric powder ---------1/2 tsp


1.If you want make okra or egg plant majjiga pulusu, chop okra or eggplant into long pieces and fry with 2 tsp of oil.

2.If you are making chayote or snake gourd or bottle gourd majjiga pulusu, chop the vegetables into pieces and boil them separately.

3.Soak channa dal, coriander seeds, cumin seeds , mustard seeds in water for 20 minutes.

4.Later grind channadal mix along with ginger, green chilli, coconut, tomato, coriander leaves into fine paste.

5.Take buttermilk in a big vessel.

6.Add little turmeric powder and grinded mixture, curry leaves and boiled or fried vegetable, and salt. Then boil it for 10 to 15 minutes.

7.Once it gets to proper boiling, add season and turn off the flame.

Majjiga pulusu is ready. Eat along with plain cooked toordal.
