Cluster beans/Green beans/
Drum sticks -- ½ pound
Channa dal --- 1 cup
Ginger ----1 inch
Green chillis – 4 to 6
Garlic --- 2 pods ( Optional)
Curry leaves --- 1 string
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Oil --- 2 Tsp
Seasoning items – ¼ tsp each
(channa dal,urad dal,cumin seeds, mustard seeds, Asafoetida)
Salt -- Enough


1.Soak channa dal at least for 2 to 3 hours

2.Pressure cook cluster ( green beans / drum sticks) beans with no water.

3.Chop ginger, green chillis into small pieces.

4.Grind soaked channa dal and ginger, green chilli pieces into coarse paste.

5.Heat oil in a pan and prepare seasoning with all seasoning ingredients.

6.Add grounded channa dal paste and fry well.

7.Once channa dal past is cooked, add boiled vegetable and mix well.

8.Add turmeric powder, salt and curry leaves.

9.Cover with lid and let it cook for 2 more minutes in low heat.

Patoli is ready. Eat with hot rice and ghee. Enjoy the delicious taste.
