Spinach Dal


Spinach --- 1 bunch
Green chillis ---3 to5
Toor dal -----1 cup
Turmeric powder ----1/2 tsp
Seasoning items –1/4 tsp
(Urad dal,mustard seeds,Asafoetida)
Oil ----2 tsp
Tamarind pulp – ½ tsp
Salt ---enough


1.Boil toor dhal in pressure cooker.

2.Chop green chilis and spinach to small pieces.

3.In a pan, heat oil and prepare seasoning with seasoning ingredients.

4.Add chopped spinach and green chillis. Mix well.

5.Once spinach is cooked, add cooked dhal.

6.Add tamarind paste, turmeric powder and salt.

7.Cook for 5 more minutes until all the ingredients mix up and cook well.

Spinach dhal is ready. Eat with hot rice or chapathi.

Note: Onion, Garlic also can be added upon your interest.

Tip: Do not use tomato in Spinach dhal. It may cause kidney stones.
