Tamarind Chutney

tamarind chutney 

Ingredients: 

Raw Tamarind --------- 1 big lemon size ( soak)
Coriander seeds --------2 tsp
Methi seeds ------------1/2 t sp
Cumin seeds -----------1 tsp
Dry red chillis ---------6
Dry coconut powder – ½ serving spoon
Salt --------------- -----enough
Jaggery----------------1/4 inch
Asafoetida (Hing)----- Pinch
Turmeric-----Pinch

Seasoning Items:
Urad dal, channa dal, mustard seeds -------1/2 tsp eachSeasoning items

Procedure:

1.Soak tamarind in a bowl for at least 30 minutes.
2.In a pan, take ½ Tsp of oil and fry coriander seeds, methi seeds, cumin seeds, red chillis and hing.
3.Once the fried ingredients cools down, grind those along with dry coconut powder.
4.Separate the pulp and fiber from soaked tamarind. Add the pulp to the grounded powder. Add jaggery and salt and all together grind once again.
5.In a pan, prepare seasoning with little oil and seasoning items,turmeric and hing. Mix the seasoning and grounded paste.

Tamarind chutney is ready. It taste awesome with hot rice and ghee.
