Pongal(Kichadi)

Ingredients:

Rice           --- 1 cup
Moong dal --- 1 cup
Green chillis - 3
Ginger       --- 1 inch
Cumin seeds  --- 1/2 Tsp
Pepper      --- 1/2 Tsp
Cury leaves - 7 to 10 leaves
Salt            --- Enough
Ghee         --- 3 Tsp
Cashew nuts -- 10 to 15

Procedure:

1. Cut green chillis and ginger into small pices
2. Wash rice and moong dal together and soak with 6 cups of water.
3. Add, cut green chillis and ginger pices, zeera and pepper to the rice and dal.
4. Add little turmeric powder if you like pongal in yellow color.
5. Add salt to the mixture and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
6. In hot ghee, add  mustard seeds,urad dal,cumin seeds, hing and curry leaves and season the Pongal. If you feel, salt is less or Pongal came out very thick and tight, you can make modifications by adding salt and water and bring it to boil again.

Now Pongal is ready to eat. You can try Dalia Rice powder or Coconut chutney along with Pongal.
