Jaangri

Ingredients:
(For 12-15 jaangries)

Urad dal ------ 1 cup
sugar-------- 2 cups
Ghee -----------11/2 cup
Rice ------------2 Tsp
Milk ------------1/8 cup
Red color -----1/2 tsp  

Procedure:

1.Soak urad dal and rice for one hour.
2.Drain out all the water once rice and urad dal are completely soaked.
3.Do not leave a single drop of water in it.
4.Grind urad dal and rice into fine paste and do not use any water.

5.Take a thick hand kerchief  and fold that into four folds ( like a smaller sqare)and make small hole to the inner edge
(Almost the center of the hand kerchief). Stich around the hole like button-hole  and keep it ready.
6.Take sugar in a pan and pore some water until the sugar is totally immersed and make sugar syrup to one string consistency
7.Take little milk in a glass and mix red color to it. Add this red color milk to sugar syrup and turn off the flame.
8.Take ghee in a pan and heat it. Once the ghee is readily heated, take little by little grinded urad dal into the button hole stitched hand kerchief and squeeze though it into the hot ghee in circular shapes make the Jangry shape.

9.Fry those Jaangries into golden wheat color and place them gently into the sugar syrup.
10.Jangries absorb the sugar syrup and get bulged.
11.Place them gently in a dry plate.

Colorful, delicious jaangries are ready.

Hint : If you are not comfortable making jaangries with cloth,you can use sauce bottle instead,Or,you can make a very small hole to the thick plastic cover and make jaangries.
2.While making jaangries in hot ghee, keep the flame on very low, so that jaangries gets cooked slowly and allows to make a proper desired shape

The itmem JANGRI, is catchy to eye.
Though the procedure is some what long , it is worth doing the item.it is the KING OF SWEETS and you have beautifully narrated and provided good photos too.
The photo itself makes mouth watering.

your jaangiries have come out perfect!!! the picture makes me drool over it, hehehe!!! last time I tried doing , I messed up the sugar syrup, it came out sticky and almost like a caramel... bookmarking this recipe for trying it once more :)
