Appam

appamIngredients: 

Rice --- 3 glass

Grated coconut – ½ cup

Salt --- Enough

Cooking soda --- ¼ tsp

 

Procedure:

1.Soak rice for 1 to 2 hours.

2.Grind the rice to fine powder.

3.Take ¼ cup of rice flour and add ¾ cup of water and mix well.

4.Heat the mixture and keep stirring until it thickens ( do not add any oil)

5.Add thickened batter to grounded rice flour.

6.Leave the batter for 5 to 6 hours aside.

7.Then the batter will ferment and volumes.

8.Add grainded coconut, salt and cooking soda to the batter.

9.Make like a dosa on a semi sphere pan and cover with lid. (appam will get cooked)

10.Transfer the cooked appam to plate. ( do not reverse the appam. It needs to be cooked for one side only) 

Delicious and soft appam is ready. It is very famous in Kerala. Enjoy appam with coconut chutney or daliya chutney.
